“A compelling story of how Waleed left the life of crime after a near death experience.”
It’s a very windy Saturday afternoon in Cape town, Waleed and her wife Tofika live in a shack built from cardboard boxes and plastics. The shack itself can barely withstand the pressure of the windy. Fifty centimeters from each other in this windy day, we could barely hear each other due to the noise coming from plastics. This is Waleed and Tofika’s daily life.
After several visits to the hospital, Waleed was warned by doctors to leave drugs. The drugs had caused Waleed to develop a disease called Acne Phase 4, but this did not come easy for Waleed to immediately forget his life of drugs and crime. Waleed lived as a drug addict, a rober, a house buglar and carjacker. His life was completely transformed when he was shot in the head. After going through three different machines at the hospital, Waleed was declared dead. His survival is truly the hand of God.
Waleed’s wife became a pillar of strength and encouragement for Waleed to leave the life of crime. She understood that there could be a better way of living than life of crime.
It’s been slightly over a year since Waleed’s survival. Stabbed more than twenty times and gunshot to the head. Waleed decided to finally leave the life of crime and drugs after this near-death experience. Every Home for Christ team reached out to Waleed and his wife to share the love of Jesus Christ. This is what Waleed’s wife had to say:
“I wish you could do this more often; you have shown us love that we needed. There could be more out there like my husband, please visit them”.
There is great need to reach every home with the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ, so that people can find hope again.
