“Zamdela in Sasolburg where sangomas are feared, youth unemployment rate is high and alcohol abuse is a common practice..”
Zamdela is a township in the Sasolburg area in Free State. In January 2013, residents of Sasolburg's Zamdela township rioted in response to a demarcation proposal to incorporate Sasolburg into the neighbouring Parys's Ngwathe municipality, believing that the merge would result in poorer service delivery and increased corruption. Police were unable to stop the violence, which involved assault, vandalism, and plundering, as they were outnumbered.
Youth unemployment is overwhelming in this area, and this has caused many youths to resort to alcohol abuse. Sangomas dominate and are feared in this area, some of which threatened the church’s existence in the area. The EHC team together with Kingdom Times Ministries took to the streets of Zamdela the Gospel of Truth and reached more than nine hundred (900) homes where thirty-nine(39) souls had an encounter with the Lord. The two-day revival saw the need, and the hunger for God in this area.
